The story of Nanga will revolve around college students. Selva is not new to directing such films as he had already handled the subject deftly in Student No. 1 and Thalaivaasal.

Selva will introduce 13 newbies in this film. They are: Munish (son of Telugu music director Vasu Rao), Nivas (son of actor Dayalan), Vinodh (son of production manager Gurusamy), Vivek (son of Kerala Film Producers’ Council member), Arun (son of production manager Sasi), Ashwin (son of LMM Productions’ V Swaminathan), Virumandi (son of actor Periyakaruppu Devar), Sanjay (son of actor Santhana Bharathi), and Sahir (son of singer Mano). Sahir will play the villain role in this film.

The film’s leading ladies are Arasi, a medical college student, Vishnupriya, Shivani and Vaidehi. And actress Kasturi will play an important in Nanga.

There has been several protests and appeals to the North Indian film fraternity to boycott the IIFA this year. A press note on behalf of the south Indian film industry stated that they were against the IIFA being held in Sri Lanka and was not against the IIFA itself.

A meeting was convened on May 28th, 2010 at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, to appeal to their north Indian counterparts not to participate in the event. A resolution was passed wherein the film fraternity has expressed that it would neither co-operate with the Sri Lankan film industry nor conduct any film shooting there.

Kamal's Manmadhan Ambu

The Kamal Haasan starrer’s inaugural press meet took place at the fourth floor of the AVM Studios today. The event was attended by his co-stars Madhavan, Trisha, director KS Ravi Kumar and producer Udhayanidhi Stalin.Kamal disclosed the title of this film to be Manmadhan Ambu. The title indicates that the movie is romance based and it will also have heavy doses of comedy. The actor is taking up a full-fledged romantic venture after a long time. The last time we saw him in such roles was in the 1980s.The actor rued that the concept of rehearsals in the film industry is diminishing. He added that for a stage drama, which is made on a budget of Rs. 3 lakhs, there would be umpteen numbers of rehearsals but for a movie made on Rs. 30 crores, nobody cares about it. He recalled that during the shooting of Devar Magan, he saw Sivaji Ganesan murmuring to himself only to realize that he was rehearsing the dialogues. Such a practice is not prevalent these days, he said.KS Ravi Kumar said that it was Kamal’s sheer magnanimity that has made the actor work with him in five films. The story, screenplay and dialogues are by Kamal Haasan. The major part of the movie will be shot in luxury yacht in Europe and in a few places in Kodaikanal. The team is leaving for France in a couple of days.To add to the comedy quotient, Manmadhan Ambu will have Kunjan and Manju Pillai from the Malayalam film industry.

Naan Sigappu Maidan

Vijay’s father and noted filmmaker SA Chandrasekar disclosed during the audio launch of his film Veluthu Kattu in Trichy that he is planning to remake his hit film Naan Sigappu Manidan with Vijay playing the protagonist. The original film was released in the year 1985, with Rajnikanth, Bhagyaraj, Sathyaraj and Ambika in the star cast. SA Chandrasekar has said that he would change the story to suit the audience of the present times. He added that all his films are based on the characters and not on the actors. An official announcement of this project is expected soon.
