Chidambaram on Telangana

The Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in a press conference yesterday stated that there is no consensus for a separate Telangana in Andhra Pradesh yet.Condemning this statement the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhara Rao has submitted his resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker and called for a 48 hour bandh in the Telangana region starting from Wednesday midnight.Speaking to the press Chidambaram said that all views will be considered and called for ‘peace and tranquility’ in the state of Andhra Pradesh.Reacting to the home minister’s statement Rao.He further added that no time frame was fixed for the formation of the state and in the name of consensus ‘will they take 150 years?’ asked the TRS chief.Rao also reinstated that with the resignation of Telangana MLAs, Rosaiah government will be reduced to a minority.The Andhra Pradesh government has imposed section 144 in the region prohibiting crowds in public places in Telangana.Meanwhile the yatra organized by Chiranjeevi and TDP will go as per schedule in the Andhra region.
